Jihad. Do u know what is Jihad? Question asked by Muslim to me [brother Ed]

Jihad by Ibn Abi Zayd al-Qayrawani (d.996):

Jihad is a precept of Divine institution. Its performance by certain individuals may dispense others from it. We Malikis [one of the four schools of Muslim jurisprudence] maintain that it is preferable not to begin HOSTILITIES [jihad] with the enemy before having invited the latter to embrace the religion of Allah except where the enemy attacks first.

Yeah, I think I know what Jihad is.

  

.....there are 2 types of jihaad..al akbar and al asgar......jihaad means to constantly improve urself to a better human being.with morality n generosity...the other jihaad which is a lesser one means to DEFEND in case where ur society is being attacked.....

but unfortunately the muslim itself doesnot knw the true meaning of jihaad n instead kill innocent person and take it as a pleasure to fight......as an atheist, i thnk i knw more about ur religion because u r just a troll who copy from other sites and paste it here...brainless..

  

Jihad basically means to strive and struggle.
It doesnt av to mean holy war.

Then why does the Quran and Hadith predominantly describe only one jihad: killing of unbelievers? There is very little mention (about 5%) in the Hadith (only) about the greater jihad. Everything else is lesser jihad/ killing of unbelievers. And it never says it is done in defense, always offense. Maybe it's you who doesn't know true meaning of Jihad. Before you go opening the hole under you nose research a little nitwit.
