About Silpakorn Silpakorn University is one of Thailand 's top five universities, which are the mainstay of higher education in Thailand . It was originally established as the School of Fine Arts by Corrado Ferroci (Prof. Silpa Bhirasri) an Italian artist, who, in 1923, during the reign of King Rama VI was commissioned to work as a sculptor in the Fine Arts Department. Initially assigned to teach Thai craftsmen the western technique and art of sculpture, the artist,who later adopted Thai nationality with Thai name Silpa Bhirasri,
subsequently expanded his class to include members of the interested public before taking the initiative of setting up a school.The School gradually developed and was officially accorded a new status and names Silpakorn /university October 12, 1043. Now Silpakorn has become a fully-fledged university offering degree programs at both undergraduate and graduate levels in all major fields of art and design, science and technology, health science, social sciences and humanities,,management and music at four different campuses including; Two campuses in Bangkok which are WangThaPhra Campus and Talingchan Office; Sanamchandra Palace Campus in Nakorn-pathom Province;Petchaburi Information and Technology Campus in Petchaburi Province.
